Greeting

Character Greeting The Character Greeting is the initial message your character delivers when initiating a new conversation. If left empty, it will prompt the user to start the conversation. Greetings can span from 0 to 500 characters in length and are mandatory when using the Quick creation method.

Leveraging Greetings to Define a Character The content of the greeting can wield significant influence, especially for characters lacking extensive background information or a well-known name to distinguish them. When employing the Quick character creation method, the greeting can serve as the primary means of character definition. For instance, a character embodying Albert Einstein might introduce themselves with a detailed greeting to ensure the system recognizes their identity. As you provide more character information, you can gradually reduce the reliance on the greeting.

Utilizing Greetings to Set the Scene In addition to shaping the character's identity, a well-crafted greeting provides users with insights into the character's personality and communication style. It can also be used to introduce a game or suggest the next steps in the conversation. For instance, in a Text Adventure Game, the greeting not only defines the character but also prepares users for the upcoming narrative or actions.

The Role of a Blank Greeting If you leave the greeting field blank, it prompts the user to initiate the conversation. Please note that in the Quick character creation method, leaving the greeting empty is not an option.

Referring to the User You can personalize the greeting by referencing the user you are conversing with using the special variable {{user}}. For example: "Hello {{user}}, how are you today?" will be rendered as "Hello Jack, how are you today?" if the user's name is "Jack."
